Pain. There's no word better to describe the feeling of another 0-2 start as a Titans fan. In this article, we'll cover Lem's breakdown of the Week 2 game against Philadelphia: positive plays, big defensive stops and ultimately what led the Titans to their demise for the second week in a row.

Final score: Eagles 24, Titans 20

"I wanted to see a team that showed fight." - Lem

Offense:

In Week 1, the Titans offense did everything but fight. Dropped passes, a turnover and several three-and-outs accompanied a single touchdown. Against the Eagles, the Titans offense finally came alive in the second half. This was the first time we truly got to see the Titans fight and make adjustments in the second half.

Cam did seem shaky in the first half of the football game, but that changed in the second half when the Titans came out and put together some solid offensive drives. While Cam Ward had a few easy passes that were missed, he still had some notable throws like the 41 yards gained by Elic Ayomanor on a pass, and two rushing touchdowns on the day. One element we still haven't seen from Cam Ward's game has been large gains down the field through big-time throws. Lem said it best, explaining:

"Get out there and RIP IT" - Lem Dozier

The offensive line did their job as well as they could and only allowed two sacks on the day. The Titans managed to run the ball for more than 120 yards, and even the offensive play calling was somewhat evenly split between passing and running the ball.

All this to say, the Titans were unable to finish the game on both sides of the ball. While the end result of the Titans' Week 2 loss lies primarily with the Titans defense at the end of the game, the one true broken play on the offensive side that stands out is a play action where Cam Ward was sacked in the backfield and forced the Titans to kick a field goal.

Defense:

In regards to the defense, there were several things that didn't go the Titans' way, with the exception of two interceptions thrown by Jalen Hurts. Overall, the defense could not get the Eagles off the field on first and second down. There was a lack of run game from the Eagles, mainly due to Saquon Barkley getting banged up early in the game, but at the end of the day, the defense was unable to stop drives or even cover DeVonta Smith, who recorded over 110 receiving yards on the day.

The two interceptions put the Titans in very good positions in the game, but when the Titans needed the defense to step up the most in the fourth quarter, they fell short and allowed the Eagles to get into the end zone and seal the win.

"The effort was there. The ending was the same old ending." - Lem

Moving forward in the season, the Titans need to improve their pass rush and improve on finishing games on both sides of the ball. Week 2 was a clear improvement from the week prior, but the Titans have got to put a win on the board before fans can begin to trust this team again.

Regardless of the product on the field, PressMan Coverage will continue to bring you, the fans, weekly updates on the Titans' performance and any news surrounding the upcoming trade deadline.
